Off to England!

Heading off to England in April, one of my favourite places, in a few days. It may be a bit cool, although it will certainly be warmer than here I expect as currently temperatures are around 12-14 degrees Celsius.  I will have my waterproof raincoat, as I am still hoping to explore no matter the weather……

As this is a family vacation for some of the time, and a sightseeing/ friends vacation the remainder of the time, this is not my usual holiday!  Plus I do plan on working as needed……

Southern England

Areas of England I hope to visit include the Weymouth area on the Channel (family), Cornwall (friends and sightseeing), Bedford area north of London (family), Norfolk east of Cambridge (family and sightseeing- we are visiting some famous gardens and will be near the North Sea at our B&B), Kent (friends and sightseeing), and London (friends and sightseeing). The last night will be spend in Belfast where I will meet up with my 87 year old stepfather to take him back to Canada…….

All of these areas are areas where there is still lots to see and do for me- I have never been as far west as Cornwall, although I have driven into Norfolk and taken the train into Kent…..still lots left for me to see.  I will be doing a mix of self driving and train travel…….tickets bought, car rented, paperwork being gathered……

Some of the gardens and sights on my list include:

  • Lanhydrock House and Garden
  • The Lost Gardens of Heligan
  • Tintagel Castle
  • Trebah Garden
  • St Michael’s Mount
  • Sissinghurst
  • Doddington Place Garden
  • Rochester
  • East Ruston Old Vicarage Garden
  • Hindringham Hall
  • National Trust – Felbrigg Hall, Gardens & Estate (this one I may have seen already so it is last on my list for Norfolk)

Stay tuned for pictures and commentary……and of course if you need to reach me I will have my laptop……
