Walking Along the Trail in Cinque Terre NP in the autumn of 2013

Are you still considering September travels, and looking for ideas? Consider Europe- so many countries- all with different cultures, food and history……whether you are an active traveller or not, consider that Europe has something for everyone in September.

One option- if you are an active traveller, head out on a walking tour- perfect in September…….the weather is warm; there are sunny days; the harvest is bountiful……

Here is a wonderful walking tour- perfect for autumn.  This is a beautiful area where I have also done some hiking…….absolutely fabulous scenery and food- and I would highly recommend it.  Furthermore, throw in a few extra days in Florence and you have a perfect vacation!

Walks of the Cinque Terre and Portofino

teh_0Located on a part of Italy’s most beautiful coastline, the base in the seaside town of Moneglia is a real treat for visitors. The hotel is just metres away from the beach which has been awarded the European Blue Badge for cleanliness and sustainability, and the town is perfectly nestled between the Cinque Terre and Bay of Portofino.

On inspirational walks through hills, woodland and coastal villages you will discover why these areas have earned names such as the Gulf of the Poets. Many of the country’s most iconic trails are situated in the region and the temperate climate, ample opportunities for walking, relaxing and sampling delicious food and wine, make this trip a great introduction to Italy.

This is a small group guided holiday. The group is usually between 4 and 16 in size, with an average of 12 like-minded clients booking individually, in a couple or as friends together.

The following is included:

  • All breakfasts, 2 lunches, 1 dinner, 1 wine tasting
  • All accommodation
    • Piccolo Hotel ***
This family-run hotel is ideally located a few metres from the seafront, and the bars and restaurants of the pretty town. All rooms are en suite and facilities include an indoor pool, sun terrace and restaurant.
  • All transport and various listed activities
  • Tour leader throughout

This trip is priced from $1675- this does not include international flights. Be sure to contact me for more information.

Highlights

  • Discover the beautiful Cinque Terre
  • Enjoy picturesque coastal paths
  • Visit the luxury resort of Portofino

Holiday Style

The pace of the walks is leisurely, so there is plenty of time to rest, admire the views and on many days you may also be able to enjoy swim breaks! Over the course of the week, the terrain and type of path track will vary from manmade paved tracks, tarmac to forest trails. Some areas may be rocky underfoot with narrow, overgrown or exposed paths. Although the walks are not technically challenging, you do need to be steady on your feet. All walks take between 4 and 6 hours including lunch stops and require a moderate level of fitness. Public transport can be subject to delays and some waiting at train stations should be expected. The number of kilometres hiked per day average between 9 and 13.5 km…..believe me this is an excellent workout.
