European Travel Options

Sacre Coeur, Paris

Sacre Coeur, Paris

Spring, summer and fall- all optimal times to visit Europe!  No matter how many times you have been (or not), there is always something new to see- or do.

Whether you are a young traveller out exploring the world for the first time, a family hoping to take the kids abroad, or even a solo traveller, there are plenty of trip options for Europe.

Perhaps you are hoping to travel with a group of friends or your extended family- I can arrange a trip to suit your style of travel. Consider southern Europe in North America’s coldest months for a change…..

Now is the time to book that European holiday- no matter your budget, there is something for everyone. Whether your interests lie in museums, historical monuments, gardens, or tracing your family tree, I can help you plan your perfect trip.

Can only spare a week?  Head to Paris or London. Take a week long tour or cruise.
Two weeks?  Take a longer tour or cruise, or add on one or two additional areas of the country to explore.

  • River cruises are a popular way to explore the waterways of Europe- with stops in historical cities, there is sure to be something for everyone. Scenic Cruises is just one option…..there are many others!
  • If river cruising is not your thing, perhaps a large or small group tour is……consider Trafalgar tours (large groups), Collette tours (small groups) or Exodus Adventure and Activity Holidays (for the young or young at heart, or those wishing a more active holiday cycling or trekking in Europe).
  • If you are an independent traveller, consider working with a travel consultant such as myself to plan a holiday hitting your top “must sees”. Not only have we often travelled ourselves to the country involved, but we enjoy doing the planning and research to give you your best experiences while overseas.  We can book hotels of any classification, recommend hostels, look at car rentals, and/or book train travel or flights for you.

Where would I recommend first?  Paris and France, or Great Britain……both are well worth at least one visit- I myself have been several times. I would avoid the summer months, however, in some of the more popular destinations- unless you don’t have a choice!  Spring and fall are often great weather months, and without the crowds of tourists.

Next post- let’s look at a popular Scenic cruise…..If you are interested in booking any kind of trip to Europe, just send me a quick email…..I would be more than happy to make your travel dreams come true.

Special Interest Travel

At Juno Beach in 2009

At Juno Beach in 2009

Does visiting World War I&II sites interest you?  Is history your “thing”?  Did you know there are a myriad of small and large group tours that allow you to explore your special interests through travel?

And did you realize that Normandie is an easy to navigate area of France, thus allowing you to travel at your own pace, if you so desire?  All true. I have experience in these matters- I travelled on my own in 2009 by renting a car and navigating my way through all of the “must sees” on my list! It was an experience that I have never forgotten…..

A few suggestions for history buffs:

  • A custom designed tour for your time and budget, car rental, hotels, maps, and even local guides if desired. Stay in small local hotels owned by families eager to impart information about the history of the area. Take your time exploring the beaches, cemeteries, and walking the streets of cities which were reduced to rubble in the second world war.
  • A large group tour with a company such as Trafalgar, visiting sites such as the historic battlefields of the First and Second World Wars, with visits to places in southern England, northern France, Belgium and The Netherlands. This particular tour is for 13 days and is priced from $3724 if booked and paid for by April 28th 2016.  See the map below for the itinerary. (Flights are not included.)
  • A small group tour for up to 5 days with a company such as Battlefield Tours or Backroads Touring Company. Travelling as a small group, you can access some of the lesser known locations of the Normandy Battlefields, or have the opportunity to visit specific cemeteries and pay respects to a fallen relative (just a couple of options available.)

Contact me today if these options are of interest to you…….or if you have other special interests such as gardening, sports, etc. I can find you the perfect trip for you as an individual, or for you in a group.
